Regulatory Reform

The regulatory framework in the United States impacts every aspect of motor vehicle parts manufacturing. State and federal regulations must provide a balanced framework from which manufacturers can operate and flourish while addressing statutory requirements outlined by Congress. At the same time, the government should avoid legislating via the regulatory process.

Manufacturers bear a significant portion of the financial burden of federal regulations. According to the Small Business Administration’s Office of Advocacy, manufacturing comprises $162 billion of the $648 billion in annual costs associated with environmental, economic, workplace and tax-compliance federal regulations.
